A young lad, separated at a young age from his parents takes on the life of petty crime and ends up in jail. After his release he comes across a friend in a train, and at the friend's request, tracks down his two daughters. He meets them and falls in love with one of them. But the police are on his trail due to a stolen necklace belonging to none other than his birth mother. A fascinating article on Shammi Kapoor and Madhubala: https://www.rediff.com/movies/special/when-shammi-kapoor-fell-for-madhubala/20160203.htm The part of the movie referred to in the article - where Madhubala pretends to sleep but watches Shammi while he dances - begins at 1:24:47. Boy Friend is a remake of 1943's Kismet with Ashok Kumar and Mumtaz Shanti. Kismet is found in this channel here: https://youtu.be/_9504Pr9bDE The morons that prepared the transfer on which I worked removed maybe 20-25% of the video from the left side, beginning after the opening credits. They also removed a lot from the top and some from bottom to keep the aspect ratio. So, the video, instead of being centered, is offset to the left and people on the left side are frequently cut on half, or missing entirely. While the Ultra version includes all of the video on the left in their version here, they ruined the aspect ratio by chopping off the top and bottom for no good reason. Other versions of the film here also have a lot missing from the left and even more from the top and bottom, leaving ruined original aspect ratios also. Of course, none have made any efforts to improve on the film.
